File:Oedignathus inermis.jpg

Hi, Leoboudv. I think you may have made a mistake at Oedignathus inermis.jpg (the same one I was about to make for another image). Going to the source and hovering over that image, the plaintext license reads "CreativeCommons - Attribution No Derivatives (2017)". I think the CC logo missing "ND" is an oversight on their part, but the text clearly states "No Derivatives". Not sure what to do about this, but assuming in your judgment we cannot use it, I can go about replacing it sitewide before it's deleted, as we have other decent images of O. inermis. The License Holder of the image is stated to be by "Gustav Paulay, Florida Museum of Natural History" and this image license is CC BY 3.0 Generic. It is not a mistake. This license is a free license at the source and the license here is CC BY 3.0 Only Gustav Paulay's two images at the source are free, the rest have a NC restriction. Leo, as noted, I believe that graphic with the link to CC BY 3.0 Unported may be an oversight on their part, as they clearly label in plaintext that it is "CreativeCommons - Attribution No Derivatives". What you choose to do with these contradicting licenses is up to you, but I'm just making you aware that this doesn't appear cut-and-dry. With that, I'll get back to working on other stuff. When it comes to images, people may chose to license some of their images freely and others not freely as another uploader once mentioned to me. All I know is that this image comes from the Third image at the source and is CC BY 3.0. I do that too sometimes on my flickr account. Everyone is different. My computer is Canada clearly says it is CC BY 3.0 Generic for the Third image in the source. The License holder is "Gustav Paulay, Florida Museum of Natural History"...and the uploader did not make a mistake here. PS: There are also free images at Inaturalist as this image shows: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Tubuca_urvillei.jpg along with an Inaturalist bot review over here which marks images almost daily. • If you have a better image and wish to replace it's use on wikipedia please go ahead, but the uploaded image is indeed free. PS: The only source that counts is this source where a whole bunch of other people gave licenses for their images. WV23 images

Hello, I saw that you uploaded File:Painted Hieroglyphs in the Tomb of Ay.jpg and File:Burial chamber and Sarcophagus of Ay in WV23.jpg from a flickr user in April 2025. Can you also upload https://www.flickr.com/photos/travelourplanet/52625229850/in/photostream/ from the same flickr user as that image contains the only figure of pharaoh Ay from the tomb that escaped erasure? My Commons upload records

Dear Michael,

Do you know a way to show the number of images that I have actually uploaded to Commons rather my number of contributions--which includes images that I reviewed or simple edits to correct typos/errors to image descriptions which is not really pertinent in my request. Unfortunately it is early morning in Canada and I have to go to bed. If you know a way to check for my image uploads, please feel free to do so. If not...then it is what it is, I suppose. From the comments in the Deletion Request, it appears that the image or video was previously used by other users and no one knows who was the original copyright owner. I reviewed it based on the free license....but I cannot restore an image or video since I am a trusted reviewer who only verifies image or video licenses, not an Admin. I would say that this file cannot be restored when Admin Jim says that it is a copyright violation. I trust Admin Jim the most on copyright and have asked his help on other copyright issues. You were banned on English wikipedia as I noted. I was mistaken for the reason why. It was for disruptive editing and not for creating multiple accounts. I am sorry for this error--and have corrected my mistake here on your wikipedia talkpage--but you were indefinitely banned for disruptive editing and I did not even know this and was not involved with this decision at all. I cannot retract what happened to you on English wikipedia because it is factual information and not a lie. You were reportedly harassing other contributors on English wikipedia. If you harass me on Commons, it would show that you have not changed your behaviour--at all. I would prefer that you don't do this---and contribute to the Wikimedia Common's project.

Image Review

Hey, I see you did a license review on one of photos: File:Union TTC Subway station (2025-01-05) 03.jpg. I noticed you removed the existing CC-BY-SA 2.0 license, could you please restore that? Although I upgraded the license to 4.0 on Flickr, the 2.0 license is irrevocable, so it should be multi-licensed with both. Thanks. PascalHD (talk) 04:10, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Wrestling pictures

Hi, I see you have tagged some photos I have uploaded from a wrestling show. I'm not familiar with how camera metadata works, but it seems to me that it's unlikely that someone else than the pro hotographer Zeke Dane had taken and uploaded them. He's been a photographer of pro wrestling for some years now and I'm fairly certain that that is indeed his Flickr account. Does the metadata imply that he has stolen these images somehow? •  Comment: Dear StarTrekker The camera metadata clearly says the Author is "Fred Brigss" with the statement "COPYRIGHT 2000&2001 FRED BRIGGS,ALL RIGHTS RESERVED." If this was Fred Briggs flickr account, then the image could be own work...but this is not so. Therefore, it appears likely that Zeke Daniel 'took' Fredd Briggs' images and posted it on his flickr account. It happens all the time. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 01:34, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Couldn't that also just be explained by Dane borrowing someone elses camera? It seems unlikely to me that someone who works professionally as a wrestling photographer would steal and take credit for someone elses photo on their own account when they clearly take photos themselves all the time.StarTrekker (talk) 01:37, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

• Maybe or maybe not...but I cannot review images where the camera metadata clearly names a different photographer with an All Rights Reserved license statement to boot StarTrekker.
