There is no FOP for statues in the US -- only for architecture -- this is therefore unfortunately a copyvio. russavia (talk) 20:59, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- I can't understand why the photo have to be deleted. The author has posted his photo under an acceptable for Commons License. --Молли (talk) 21:18, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- I red the FOP and I understad the USA law. But the sculpture is Chinese, and the law in the People's Republic of China is: " [A] work may be exploited without the permission from, and without payment of remuneration to, the copyright owner, provided that the name of the author and the title of the work are mentioned and the other rights enjoyed by the copyright owner by virtue of this Law are not infringed upon...
- in the case of:
- copying, drawing, photographing, or video recording of an artistic work located or on display in an outdoor public place"

- Hi Molly, the relevant policy on Commons is Commons:FOP#United_States. Don't take it personally, it is simply a US law that most people are not aware of. If the statue was on display in China, it would be ok to host on Commons, but as it is on display in the US, it's unfortunately a copyvio. russavia (talk) 07:14, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- The authors are Chinese and according to my logic, their interests should be protected by Chinese laws. But ОК, I uploaded 6 photos of these statues and you may delete them. I'm so sorry about them. --Молли (talk) 08:53, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- No need to apologise, you weren't to know. :) Don't let this discourage you from continuing to upload in future. If you have any doubts as to whether a photo is ok to upload, you may ask for advice at COM:VP. russavia (talk) 09:04, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Delete. Adding 2 other US statues mentioned by Молли, 2 more are already nominated elsewhere (to Молли: it does not matter where the author comes from, the author is only important to establish whether or not his/her work is in public domain. If yes, then FOP does not apply, and photos can be freely distributed, but in this case there is no evidence the sculptor released his work into public domain). - OK, I understand. There is no problem to delete all the 5 remaining photos. I don't know how to do it. --Молли (talk) 11:24, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
Deleted: Representations of copyrighted sculptures; no freedom of panorama for statues in the US. We apply the law of the land where the artwork is situated. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 10:23, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
